Communications

Hamilton County Preppers

Communications is an important facet of our everyday lives.  However when the power goes out we can no longer rely on normal communications devices.  Depending on the severity and nature of the disaster/event we need to devise a plan that allows us to continue to communicate with our neighbors, community, friends and relatives if possible.  For instance, if the power goes out most RF phones will no longer operate since they need A/C power to transmit from a base station to the handheld device. One way to prepare for a power outage and still be able to communicate via telephone is to have one or two phones that are powered exclusively via the phone line.  There are several types available, they are inexpensive and will allow you access to the phone lines even during a power outage.
